When there is a blue moon on the rise, it is only a matter of time before people are drawn to its brilliance.
Such is the case with Murcia-based guitarist Austin Slack, a young buck with a blues beat. He is turning-up the boogie with hot riffs and smart note picking. At 14 years of age, Austin is an inspirational force with a magical vibe.
He first played on stage with an English blues guitarist Ian Parker back in July 2011 and as they say, the rest is history.
In this interview, Austin shares his adventures into the world of roots music from Spanish folk to American and English blues classics. He also brings important insights into how the blues music scene is different in Spain.
I encourage readers to view his videos - check link at the end of the interview and people get ready, there is a blue moon arising. Let's try and get Austin to perform for us at a CBBlues Matinee - very soon!

Valentines Matinee * Javea * Platinos * February 14th
An absolutely perfect weather day on the Costa Blanca and of course Valentine's Day. However, any day is a good day to love and listen to good blues music.
I now truly believe that Tom Poole as my "music director" was a very wise decision. His knowledge base and contacts adds a ton of weight to the "blues community" mission by bringing some excellent players out of the wood work.
Such was the case on Friday, February 14th at the CBBlues "Valentine's Day:" matinee.
"To witness Tom Poole in his element, playing Dobro guitar in the style of the original blues masters complete with bottleneck is indeed a rare treat, particularly for a not so accomplished guitarist and Professional Photographer such as myself.
The venue was Platino's Javea on an otherwise unexciting Friday afternoon, I found myself surrounded by fellow music lovers and musicians bearing witness to this most accomplished quintessential blues-man.
This Valentine's Day the magic is going to be the amazing pairing of our own CBBlues veteran Tom Poole with British blues bassist Craig Rhind, who just happens to be in Spain for a short visit.
Those blues fans out of Leicestershire, England will certainly know of the blues power trio called the DIRTY ROBBERS. This is Craig Rhinds current band, however he has a list of blues performer greats on is own personal roster for whom he has keep the back beat. That list includes Steve Marriott, Dr Feelgood, Carey Bell and Phil Guy (Buddy's brother) Occasional Craig gigs with Steve Gibbons, Eric Bell amd Tony McPhee.
JAVEA * FEBRUARY 7TH, 2014Another fun afternoon at Platino's under sunny skies and the calm waters of the marvelous Mediterranean sea. Thank you to all CBBluer's that reserved and showed up for the matinee show.

Tom Poole was in fine form, as usual, treating us with his soulful style of blues guitar. Markus K, a talented guitarist, composer and producer was on-board with his style of folksy fusion music. He asked a super talented guitarman friend to be a special guest - Manu Rodriguez to join in on guitar. I did take some video footage, which I will post later.
In my quest to find more blues performers to interview and feature in this webzine, you can only image how excited I was to meet Markus K for a coffee and chat one morning on the beach in Javea.
We shared so many deep thoughts and much appreciation for our love of the blues. Here is a brief interview with Markus K, which opens a window into his blues world as a player and a committed blues aficionado. Q. How long have you been playing the blues?
