TOM POOLE, the Costa Blanca's very own bottleneck blues legend, will be there with Friends... like the very entertaining VERDE MARIA, who was actually with us on our first Mojo Party. Maria is a soul-filled gypsy dancer and percussionist.

It is going to be a full-on Sunday Roots & Blues Lunchtime Matinee Show!!

Lunch / Food service starts at 2pm and the show will start shortly after that - and run till about 5ish - The owner of Bar Mediterraneo says we can stay until 8 if we want??

If you want to order food - you must let me know as Rocio in the kitchen needs to know how much food to buy. She is the best cook on the Costa Blanca and the Menu at Bar Mediterraneo is super great value. REVIEW FROM TRIPADVISOR

BOTTLENECK BLUES PLAYER TURNS TO TRACTORS FOR ROOTSY RHYTHMS

CLICK PHOTO TO ENL
Finding unique blues-based talents is my mission for this magazine and I am having a great time in my pursuits. Knowing about my quest, blues fan Wilf Brown from Alcalalí turned me onto a his favourite YouTube blues player.

I reached out to Johan Eliasson to find out what inspires him to jam with junk. In the blues world he is called "Bottleneck John" . Hailing from Sweden, Johan brings his blues talents and beautiful Dobro's to the open air forum of backyards and barn yards.

Seeking the company of antique tractors, engines, pumps and other assorted mechanised beat boxes, Johan brings the blues classics to his fans with a twist of humour and nostalgia. I really like the serendipity or irony of these mechanical monsters because it drags up historical references to other great blues masters who would be influenced by the clickity-clack of the narrow gauge railways of the southern USA.

report & interview

I am big fan of one-man blues and roots acts. I think it takes a brave soul to go it alone. I have taken it upon myself to find some of these types of solitude blues soldiers - and feature them here on CBBlues.com.

Recently, I received an email from a blues performer in Sweden. His promo-kit was very impressive but what really turned my head was the music itself.

He calls himself, Old Kerry McKee and he is Swedish. His profile photo conjures up the illusion of a Gothic rocker. He also hails from a place in Sweden with a very Gothic name - Gothenburg.
