The first CBBlues "Open-Mic" Coffee House Morning was launched on Sunday, September 27th.

International author Ray Wilcox was the host and read for us some of his introspective poems. Local blues performer Tom Poole keep the music open jam moving along.

Ann Martin was there with her delicious cupcakes and Tash Lewis had her books and cards. Wilf Brown was selling some vintage music records, picture discs, 45's and other fun things.

There was a positive turn out of community performers and guests.

Danny Boy Sánchez is the undisputed king of the blues harmonica in the Valencian region, hands down!

by Karla Darocas

All the CBlues crew and me more than most, are absolutely thrilled to have this incredible talent come and  celebrate with us at the 2nd Annual Books & Blues Festival. (October 19, 2014)

Back in June, I begged my music man Tom Poole to find me a champion. Tom really pulled a winner out of his contacts. Wow!!

Sonny Boy Sánchez is the real deal and he is CBBlues very special guest.

VIDEO REVIEWS & PROFILE: WARREN HAYNES

When Wilf first suggested that we review this piece I thought, yes my friend, the Allmans with a hint of Grateful Dead. But no. This is Warren Haynes oozing class without the comfort zone of other musicians around him.

Do take a moment to admire the backdrop to his performance space but then concentrate on the man and his blues. His interpretation of 'Old Friend' is special on a number of levels.

Warren manages to combine his effortless vocal with a distinctive chord/slide guitar whilst still maintaining the dynamic of both. The man doesn't need to embellish his performance with unnecessary moves, his style is just fine.

I wonder what Duane Allman would have made of him.

BLUES VIDEO REVIEW & PROFILE * ANDY FAIRWEATHER LOW

I first saw Andy Fairweather Low on stage with Eric Clapton back in the 90s at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena. As he walked on stage, and I recognised him, one question filled my head, “How can a pop singer be sharing a stage with Eric Clapton, and even more incredibly, start warming up a Fender Stratocaster like he knew what he was doing?”
