The CBBlues February 2015 Sunday Social proved to be a fabulous and action packed matinee show full of surprises.

Thank you to all who came out to share this special event and to keep the blues alive in song, dance and art.

The event opened up with some blues roots tunes by Tom Poole on guitar and "Buddy" Paul Tidiman on harp. It was a bitter sweet performance for me as Tom is leaving for health reasons - and Paul is coming on board to be the new music director and help me keep my head on. I need all the help I can get!

INTERVIEW: NANO BLUES - A GUITAR MAN WITH BLUES IN HIS NAME

Since starting this project almost three years ago, I was hoping to find a real guitar man - a player versed in the ways of many guitars that now soundscape our world.

Thanks to "Buddy" Paul Tidiman, a blues harp player from the Valencia city scene, I was able to connect with "Nano Blues".

Alberto Mondéjar - aka - "Nano Blues", is a veteran guitarist and performer from the Valencia city blues scene. He is on the board of directors for the Valencia Blues Society and at age 59, he has been in the music business for 45 years.

According to "Buddy" Paul Tidiman, Nano can perform, "slow heart wrenching blues right up to rock and everything inbetween."

INTERVIEW: JAVIER TIJUANA TELLS IT ALL FROM SOCIETY TO SONGWRITING

Over the last year, we have heard more and more from the Valencian Blues Society. We have invited some of their members to perform for our socials and we have been impressed.

As with all things that take form, there needs to be a motivator to inspire and create the concept. For the Valencia Blues Society that mover and shaker is Javier Tijuana.

Based in Valencia city, this 46 year old blues guitarist and leader of his own group - namely the Tijuana Blue band is a big supporter and aficionado of the blues.

1ST COFFEE HOUSE OF THE 2015 SEASON A GRAND EVENT

CLICK PHOTO TO ENLARGE
I am so pleased that so many great folks came out to the CBBlues Coffee House event - namely Cross Roads - and launched the 2015 season with music, poetry, dance and art.

Tom Poole and Ray Wilcox did a fantastic job of hosting the event while I greeted the guests. Thank you to Carol Lynn for helping me with the raffle.

Tom Poole opened the event with a solo tune but was soon joined by some of the visiting musicians. Ray Wilcox gave a tribute to our friend Wilf Brown who is in hospital again. We wish him a speedy recover so he can join us for more blues.

Then it was a full-on Coffee House that lasted 30 minutes over the dedicated time. It wrapped up with a group session of the remaining musicians.
