CHRISTMAS CROSSROADS WAS A SENSATIONAL CELEBRATION

The last CrossRoads event of the year 2015 was super fantastic with lots of talent and friends.

Andy was visiting from France and kicked off the Coffee House morning with some slide guitar and some foot stomping delta tunes. Paul and Manel jumped in and kept the boogie rolling for another couple of songs.

Everyone who wanted to share got a chance to do a song or two. There were no poems this time around. I guess we could have done a Christmas poem but it didn't come up.

Sue and Mike topped it all off with a roaring 20's tune that came complete with costume.

Once again, the friendly atmosphere and talent sharing made for a perfect morning. Twenty of us stayed on for lunch.

We also got to try out the Musician Market with Andy and Dave bringing items to show and sell. Andy came up to me before the lunch and gave me a serious look and said, "About your Musician's Market?" - I got worried that he was going to say that he hated the idea.

Dave continued, "It was a big success. I sold everything!"

Merry Christmas to All and a Happy New Year
See you in 2016

VALENCIAN COUNTRY BLUES DUO GROW TO NUMBER ONE - ON GLOBAL MUSIC PLATFORM

It is not every day that we can report on a Valencian duo winning an American country blues category for Spain, but there are always surprises in this universe, so here we go… xx - karla

CONGRATULATIONS to the Valencia-based country-blues duo of SARA GEE & RAMBLIN’ MATT for charting at number 1 on Reverbnation.com

ReverbNation is an online platform that provides tools and opportunities for musicians to manage their careers. It features the ability to view charts by location and genre as well as what’s popular globally and on the national level.

Unlike many of the musicians in Spain, Ramblin’ Matt has been taking advantage of this platform for quite some time and now fans are taking notice, hence the push to number 1.

According to CBBlues Music Director and regional entertainer Buddy Paul, “Matt and Sara are two of the hardest working people on the circuit. I have played with these musicians several times at various events. They are both fun and lively and they deserve all they get by living the music. Sara is an angel. Their music is cool. Blues On with Big Love.”

BOOM BOOM HIT THE ROOM ROOM WITH A BANG BANG OF FUN

Manel Llorens Arnal ripping up the blues riffs!
JOHN LEE HOOKER TRIBUTE 2015

Our November CBBlues Sunday Social Matinee was a sold out show - full of Blues loving aficionados from all parts of the globe.

The matinee opened with Buddy Paul and Manel warming up the crowd and showcasing some fine duo blues abilities.

After a short break, the TRIBUTE was in full action opening with the big hit for John Lee Hooker - namely Boom Boom Boom Boom. From there the afternoon rolled between toe tapping blues to early twisting and dancing boogie and jive blues to slow grinding blues. There was something for everyone.

Our star attraction Manel Llorens Arnal, gave us plenty of shuffles, riffs and picking as the lead guitarist in this Tribute matinee show.

Just to remind you all...

Manel started to wheel his axe in 1993 in a power blues band called Zri Blues Band. He then decided to perfect his passion by attending and graduating from the Musicians Institute of Los Angeles, California. Since that time, Manel has been strutting his stuff with world class American guitarists like Steve Trovato and Keith Wyatt as well as British guitarist and composer Allan Holdsworth, among others. Today, Manel shows up to showcase his chops at various jams around Valencia and has his own private guitar school in Moncada, Valencia.

Once again, we all must bow down to our CBBlues Music Director for bring us the best of the best that he comes across - out there in the regional blues scenes. Thank you Buddy Paul for helping to bring the spirit and unique music of John Lee Hooker alive for us for one amazing afternoon!

I was very please that everyone at the show wanted to win one of my hand painted CBBlues tshirts. These iconic creations have become a tradition at the CBBlues Sunday Socials.

In conclusion, CBBlues aficionados are the best people on the planet and without you amazing blues loving folks, we couldn't keep the blues flowing through our lives here in our piece of paradise on the Costa Blanca.

TRIBUTE TO JOHN LEE HOOKER BY KARLA DAROCAS

"Boom, boom, boom, boom, I love to see you strut, up and down the floor And when you talking to me that baby talk, I like it like that". - John Lee Hooker

This blues tribute is to pay homage to a soul who spirited his life and ours with song. John Lee Hooker had an ear for music, a great sense of humour and personal vision. He pulled it all together with hard work and dedication. Music was his mission; if it wasn't, I would not be writing this tribute.

John Lee wanted to be heard and spread his spirited message to us all. Rooted in the growing vibrations of the gospel spiritual sound, John Lee broke all the rules of the day. Instead of singing songs that reach for an ethereal life after death, John Lee chose to "keep it real" and create lyrics and rhythms that were extracted from his everyday life - rooted in the here and now.

You know, I'm a crawling king snake baby, so before I continue to slide into my tribute of John Lee Hooker, I thought it best to ask some of my friends about their feelings towards this great legend.
